Abstract

The text outlines the academic career of Pablo LatapíSarre, a pioneer of educational research in Mexico, and invites researchers in this field in Latin America to participate in the “Pablo LatapíSarreAward on Educational Research”, granted by the University and Education Research Institute (IISUE for its acronym in Spanish), of the National Autonomous University of Mexico(UNAM).

Author Biography

Emma Paniagua Roldán, IISUE, UNAM

She holds an MA in Actuarial Science from Mexico’s National Autonomous University (UNAM). Since 1983 she has worked as an editor specializing in social sciences and education; she has been the editor of two of Mexico’s leading journals on research in education: the Revista Latinoamericana de Estudios Educativos (1984-1991), and Perfiles Educativos (1997-2009). She was the coordinator of the Editorial Department of the UNAM’s Research Institute on Universities and Education (IISUE) for 13 years. She has coordinated the editing of nearly 500 publications for the Centro de Estudios Educativos, the Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE) and the IISUE, and has published several articles dealing with education statistics, editing and scientific journals.
