The purpose of this article is to show the different ways to conceive the social function of the Mexican university during the historical process between 1910 and 1933 starting from the analysis of its regulationframework and of the matters that were discussed during the national students’ conferences, and parti-cularly during the last Mexican university students’ conference. The main interest is to broach from the socio-historical point of view the process of building an identity, in Mexico, under social circumstances in which Porfirio Diaz’ past decades articulated with the revolutionary governments. The author retrie-ves information from the Historical Archive of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Archivo Histórico de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) and from contemporary periodicals.
