Critical issues for university management in the context of Covid-19: methodological proposal for the analysis of specialized digital press

Abstract

The pandemic has generated high uncertainty in the university context, forcing it to process huge amounts of information as quickly as possible. This paper proposes a method for the analysis of online press articles using techniques adapted from scientific field mapping. The methodological design was tested by analyzing a sample of 318 articles from the Times Higher Education journal. Nine thematic clusters were identified in the global debate on higher education in the context of the pandemic. This allowed us to verify the efficiency of the proposed method and its usefulness for the generation of evidence for decision making.
