Applicants to universities in Chile. Social-educational vicissitudes

Abstract

The text treats in particular with the social-educational conditions of college graduates (secondary and higher level education or baccalaureate (bachillerato) who aspire to obtain a university degree in a world in which in only a few years the private sector has commercialized the sector, i.e. from a trend of the private sector to establish paid educational institutions with a specific social profile towards the latter’s inclusion in the organizations in order to obtain profits, and the supporters usually assume parameters that match the ‘Washington consensus” (1990), exacerbating social-educational differences.
